Biografía:

La Dra. Dorta actualmente es profesora del CCC y se encuentra trabajando en el área de inmunología del cáncer. Menciona que es un área que continuamente está evolucionando, donde se retan para cuestionar distintos procesos biológicos y encontrar maneras de responder a preguntas.

Su enfoque es identificar procesos inmunológicos que afecten la respuesta que tienen los pacientes a los tratamientos existentes de cáncer, en particular en cánceres inducidos por el virus del papiloma. Eso es importante ya que un sistema inmune eficiente y específico al cáncer es necesario para que tratamientos sean más efectivos. El identificar estas células y/o procesos inmunológicos puede ayudar a desarrollar terapias dirigidas que puedan usarse en combinación con terapias existentes y mejorar la prognosis de los pacientes de cáncer.

De igual forma, la doctora es profesora del Departamento de Microbiología y Zoología del Recinto de Ciencias Médicas.
