Dr. Keimari Méndez obtained an MD from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and is currently the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program Director. Dr. Méndez also completed a post-doctoral master’s in clinical research to expand her knowledge and skills in clinical research to become an independent and successful researcher in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her research interests reside in cancer prevention and have conducted projects towards cervical cancer screening and novel HPV detection methods. Dr. Méndez is also involved in other research topics including effects of stress during pregnancy for fetus and mothers, abnormal placentation, obesity, and endometrial cancer. She is currently collaborating in pharmaceutical sponsored research studies in the areas of HPV therapeutic vaccine, endometriosis, and contraception. Dr. Méndez’ current research goal is to apply for a Pilot Project Program to start a new research study in cervical cancer prevention and screening, with the use of new biomarkers for cancer susceptibility.
