Miguel Mayol del Valle is a neurosurgical oncologist with an extensive academic and professional
background. He graduated with honors in Biology and Literature with a minor in Latin American Studies
from Cornell University in 2010. Later, he completed his degree in Medicine at the Universidad Central
del Caribe in 2014, where he was a member of the national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha.
After graduating, he pursued his neurosurgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical
Sciences Campus, from 2014 to 2021, receiving comprehensive training in the field of neurosurgery.
Subsequently, he undertook a fellowship in neurosurgical oncology at Emory University, which concluded
in June 2022.

Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University
of Puerto Rico and an Assistant Clinical Investigator of Neurosurgery in the Department of Cancer Biology
and Cancer Medicine at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Puerto Rico. Mayol del Valle is dedicated to
clinical and translational research, focusing on targeted therapy for glioblastoma and the study of
molecular markers for patients with brain tumors. His goal is to develop a comprehensive neurosurgical
oncology service in Puerto Rico, utilizing advanced technologies such as cortical mapping and
fluorescence-guided surgery.
In addition to his work in the medical field, he has presented his research nationally and plans to seek

funding for his projects through industry sponsorships and NIH K08 grants. Miguel Mayol del Valle is a
passionate professional striving to improve healthcare and patient outcomes in the fields of
neurosurgery and oncology.
