Dr. Alixida Ramos-Pibernus is an Assistant Professor at the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences of the Ponce Health Sciences University. She is also a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Rehabilitation Counselor by training. Dr. Ramos-Pibernus completed her Postdoctoral Training at the Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies, School of International and Public Affairs at Florida International University. Dr. Ramos-Pibernus has dedicated her entire career to understanding the role of social, cultural, and environmental factors that foster the health disparities experienced by Latinx transgender and non-conforming populations. Her research, which has been supported by the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, aims to understand and address the interrelated and multilevel factors that foster cancer-related health disparities (cervical and breast) and impact the cancer continuum process among Latinx trans and gender-diverse individuals in the United States and the Caribbean. Her work has also been presented and published in multiple national and international conferences, peer-reviewed journals, and books. Dr. Ramos-Pibernus is currently developing and tailoring multilevel interventions to foster cervical cancer prevention among Latinx trans and non-binary populations.
