Dr. Eliud Hernández is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department of the School of Pharmacy. Dr. Hernández has a broad background in computer-based drug design, organic syntheses and methodology, instrumental analysis and in vitro cell culture assays. His research interests are in the molecular modeling design of synthetic compounds as inhibitors of the Cdc42-effector N-WASP and Rac1 protein, synthesis, and in vitro evaluation on metastatic cancer cells. In this area Dr. Hernández has done research work as a principal investigator sponsored by the NIH and by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy New Investigator Award. Additionally, he has established a strong interdisciplinary collaboration team with other investigators at the Medical Sciences Campus and University of Arkansas, and produced several peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter, and patents (US and International).
